Charitable giving and fundraising have long been part of the Bergen Knights’ work. Together with our neighbors and supporters, we help advance research, education, care for veterans, and Hellenic community life.
Our causes
The Bergen Knights have supported a wide range of charitable organizations and foundations since 1931, locally in Bergen County and beyond. These are among the causes the chapter has supported.

A sampling of the organizations and programs the Bergen Knights support.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation works to improve the lives of children with cancer by funding research, supporting families, and raising awareness. The chapter has supported this cause through community events, including its Car & Cycle Show.
Learn about the foundation ↗Founded in 1989, the foundation raises funds and awards grants to scientists and medical research institutions working toward better cancer treatments and a cure. Its early fundraising began with collection canisters in local businesses, a tradition that grew into broader events and grantmaking.

Learn about the foundation ↗COSMOS FM connects listeners with bilingual news, education, and cultural programming. Its parent organization, GAEPIS, works to preserve and promote Hellenic heritage through media.
Listen and learn more ↗Saint Basil Academy is a Greek Orthodox Archdiocese home for children in need in Garrison, New York. It offers a safe, caring environment for resident children and also welcomes clergy, youth, and community members for educational programs and retreats.
Learn about Saint Basil Academy ↗The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John the Theologian serves the Greek Orthodox community in Tenafly and the wider Metropolis of New Jersey. Its ministries include worship, a Greek school, and programs that nurture faith and Hellenic heritage. The cathedral is also a gathering place for Bergen Knights chapter events.
Learn about Saint John’s ↗The Bergen Knights award merit-based scholarships to graduating high school seniors pursuing college study. The chapter has also sponsored student teams in AHEPA’s Hellenic History Tournament, an educational competition exploring ancient and modern Greek history. In 2020, chapter-sponsored teams placed first, second, and third in the regional tournament.
